Our purpose

WorldsOnews exists to help readers understand what happened, why it matters, and what comes next. We publish clear reporting, useful explainers, and thoughtful analysis. Every story is edited by a human editor and judged on accuracy, fairness, and clarity.

What we cover

We report on policy and society, business and work, science and technology, culture and sport. Selection is based on public interest, impact on daily life, and the potential to clear confusion.

How we report and edit

  1. A commissioning editor approves each story idea with a clear angle and scope.
  2. Reporters gather facts from documents, data, and on the record sources.
  3. Quotes are transcribed and checked against recordings or transcripts.
  4. An editor reviews structure, claims, numbers, and wording.
  5. Sensitive pieces receive legal and ethics review before publication.
  6. After publication we monitor new facts and update when needed. Updates are time stamped.

Sourcing standards

We prefer named sources and primary documents. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is important, cannot be obtained on the record, and the source faces a real risk. When anonymity is granted, at least one editor knows the identity and the reasons are recorded.

Fairness and balance

Subjects of critical coverage are offered a reasonable chance to comment. We include their response in the same story where practical. If a response arrives after publication, we add it as an update.

Independence and conflicts

Editorial decisions are made by the newsroom. Business relationships do not dictate coverage. Staff must disclose personal investments, close family ties, and outside work that could create a conflict. Editors may reassign or recuse to preserve independence. We do not accept gifts above a nominal value. Travel funded by third parties is disclosed and approved in advance.

Originality and plagiarism

We publish original work. We do not copy text, images, or code from other outlets. When another publication breaks a story that we build on, we add fresh reporting and credit the prior work in plain language. We do not recycle or auto spin content.

Use of AI and automation

All articles are conceived, reported, written, and edited by people. We may use software for spelling checks, formatting, transcripts, or data analysis. A human editor reviews every line before publication. Tools do not make final editorial judgments. If any assistive tool contributes to a story in a material way, we disclose it.

Photos, graphics, and illustrations

We use images that we have rights to use. Captions state what is shown and credit the source. Photo illustrations are labeled clearly. We do not manipulate images in ways that change their meaning. Sensitive images are handled with restraint and warning notes when appropriate.

Data, charts, and methods

Charts and tables must include source notes and explain units, timeframes, and limits. When we use models or assumptions, we describe them in plain language. If a dataset has known gaps, we say so.

Corrections and updates

Accuracy is the standard. When we make a mistake, we correct it quickly and visibly.

  1. Minor fixes: spelling and style corrections that do not change meaning are made silently.
  2. Factual corrections: we add a note that explains what changed and the time of the change.
  3. Clarifications: when wording was accurate but unclear, we add a note to improve understanding.
Readers can request a correction by emailing corrections@worldsonews.com with the article title, the passage in question, and what they believe is correct.

Right of reply

People or organizations named in a critical story can request a right of reply. The request must point to specific statements and provide verifiable evidence. Editors decide on publication after review.

Opinion and analysis

Opinion pieces and columns express the author’s view. They are labeled clearly. Analysis explains context and likely outcomes based on reported facts. Both are edited for accuracy and fairness to opposing views.

Diversity and inclusion

We aim for a range of voices, sources, and subjects. Stories should avoid stereotypes and slurs.

Sponsored content and advertising

Advertising keeps the site free to read. Ads do not influence editorial choices. Sponsored content is labeled at the top with the words Sponsored or Partner. The sponsor’s role is disclosed. Editors retain control over standards and may refuse material that does not meet them. If we use affiliate links in guides, we label them and apply the same testing and review standards as any other recommendation.

Community standards and comments

Where comments are enabled, we moderate for civility, relevance, and safety. Hate speech, harassment, spam, and illegal content are removed. Repeat offenders may lose access to comment features.

Embargoes and exclusives

We respect lawful embargoes that serve the public interest. If a source offers an exclusive, editors weigh the conditions and the value to readers before agreeing. We do not accept embargoes that restrict honest reporting after publication.

Sourcing of user material

If you send documents, photos, or video, tell us how you obtained them and whether you hold the rights. We will verify before publishing. If publication could create risk, tell us so we can plan safety steps.

Retention and takedown requests

We rarely unpublish. In exceptional cases: safety, court orders, or clear evidence of fabrication: we may remove or redact content. When we do so, we explain our decision in a note and keep an internal record.

Training and review

Editors run periodic training on sourcing, legal risk, data literacy, and accessibility. We review this policy at least once a year and update it when needed.
